1 Samuel 17. David and Goliath. A rendition of this tale in light of psychological and practical warfare. David the teenager does not go off to fight with spiritual zeal alone. He is a wild young man, knowledgeable in animal-style fighting (lion and bear). He is fully capable of defending himself with those weapons with which he is well acquainted and experienced in using. David's defeat of Goliath is the great example of the maxim stated centuries later by Benjamin Franklin, “God helps those who help themselves.” David's zeal combined with his experience and expertise many him the winner that he became.
