What is a Desecration of God's Name and What is a Ba'al Teshuva. This lesson explains the text before us, but I also digress widely to give many relevant modern examples of how one can dishonor Heaven and themselves. Proper behavior defines what is and what is not religious. How one is supposed to act in the moment cannot be learned from words in a book, but rather by applying wisdom, discretion, and above all, honesty and integrity. A ba'al teshuva, is a master of repentance, and there is no repentance that is not a return to God. A return to God means a return the the Image in which we were created, in other words, a return to realizing God within us and the external expression of that internal light. God's patience with those who err only goes so far before they are “cut loose” to follow their own paths to their ultimate end, and end in which God's Presence will not be found.
